At its most basic, a sandal is simply a sole held on to the foot by strap. But, an ancient trend that has recently been popping up on the red carpet and elsewhere is the strappy gladiator sandal. These "modern vintage" sandals will set you on the cutting edge of fashion. It is definitely back and one of the styles of the season.
