Alicia Keys Hiding Behind Her Carerra's With A Broken Heart : )

If you have ever had a good relationship "gone bad," you will love to cry (and hum) to the new song “Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart," by Alicia Keys; which is the latest single from her new album The Elements of Freedom.

In the (new) video clip, Keys plays a seductive and modern heroine who has extraordinary powers. These powers allow her to save the lives of all people, except for the person she loves for whom her arms turn into a deadly weapon. Keys who stars and sings in the video is fashionable in "modern" retro everyday wear; including wearing a pair of really cool retro inspired Panamerika 1 sun glasses by Carrera. The Panamerika 1 sun glasses from the Carrera Vintage collection are inspired by the style of the 1980s and immediately catch your attention because of their unique metal frame in the form of a tear which makes them recognizable at once.

Fashionistas be warned ... if you want to be ahead of the fashion curve, the Carrera look is starting to spread among many music stars. Fashion icon and singer Britney Spears for example, is wearing Carrera glasses in her clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qkr7phyrvNY

Key's talent is confirmed worldwide as a 2-time Grammy Award-winning, multi-platinum recording artist (and actress,) and her voice has often been called one of the most beautiful voices on the planet. I love Bob Dylan’s quote about Alicia Keys. “There’s nothing about that girl I don’t like,” he told Rolling Stone in 2006 when asked why he had mentioned her in Thunder on the Mountain, the opening song of his Modern Times album.

Suffice it to say; "Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart” will surely be a new success for Key's. Everone loves a good love song, a good crying song and a good voice.

Dylans Christmas Album and Tribute to Bettie Page "Christmas in the Heart"

I'm a little late getting this up ... but, better late than never. Bob Dylan has come out with his first Christmas Album called "Christmas in the Heart," which also pays tribute to the late Bettie Page.

Bettie Page appears on the back page of the album booklet, in an image of the famed pinup artist's, Olivia, Christmas drawing of Bettie Page. This album is available now in stores and online on Amazon.com.

The 2009 holiday release, Dylan's 47th album and follows the worldwide success of his album Together Through Life. In a commitment to ending hunger, all of Bob Dylan's U.S. current and future royalties from sales of Christmas In The Heart will be donated in perpetuity to Feeding America, guaranteeing that more than four million meals will be provided to over 1.4 million people in need in this country during this year's holiday season. There are 15 tracks including 'Here Comes Santa Claus', 'Winter Wonderland', 'Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas' and many others.

As you know; Page became a devout Christian when she left her modeling years. This very humble and nice gesture by Dylan would probably please her very much.

Check out a few of Dylan's Videos.

Glare On. Glare Off. Vintage Carerra Sunglass Line. Perfect!

Every rockabilly gal or guy looks great in a pair of shades.  Whether driving down the road; shading your eyes on the beach; or even hiding those baby blues in a game of  poker.  A pair of shades can change "everything."  Shades can make you a fashion icon on "your street," become your "brand;" the envy of your friends and illicet a prayer from the best of friends that you accidently lose them.

Sunglasses in themselves are an iconic accessory.  Popular in movies, for creating cool characters and sex appeal.  Take the opening scene of "Cool Hand Luke"  a movie about a man  played by Paul Newman who refuses to conform to life in a rural prison. The Boss Man otherwise known as the "man with no eyes,"  watches Newman  in reflective sunglasses; which set the tone for the movie and helped ensure the classic line ""What we've got here is failure to communicate."  We have Steve McQueen in "Thomas Crown Affair,"where McQueen is stylish and sophisticated; to the classic Carey Grant in "It Takes a Thief," as the suave cat burgler.  And, don't forget Tom Cruise in the pop culture classic "Risky Business."

Granted I love the old movies and movie stars.  But, everything old is new again and leading this trend is a great new selection of sport-inspired sunglasses that are vintage inspired, trendy, sporty and affordable. Italian designer Carrera owned by the Italian sunglass house Safilo, has re-launched their “CARRERA VINTAGE” line; an upgraded version of their own vintage sunglasses which were originally launched in 1956 for the sportsman in “fast paced sports,” notably racing.

The brand name “Carerra” was derived from the Carrera Panamericana (the annual car race that stretches across Mexico.) Carrera still specializes in sports sunglasses but it is their modern and vintage sunglass range that has made them one of the coolest brands of sunglasses in today’s fashion market. Relaunched in Europe (2007) they are just now being released into the States. The new “vintage” line pays tribute to their 1950s line of racing glasses, but plays them up, referencing their '80s design style of oversized frames and colors that pop. Although the new line is incredibly fun, they’re also incredibly functional, as their large surface area provides optimum UV protection. They are the perfect spring collection for sport enthusiasts and every day use. The Aviator styles are hugely popular and are worn by many being worn by many major 'A' list stars of today, including Jamie Foxx, Alex Meraz, Don Johnson, Brad Pitt, David Beckham, Rhianna and Lady Gaga.

Singer and fashion icon Lady Gaga is wearing the "Champion" model which is the brand's signature and most colorful style in its recently relaunched "vintage collection.   In  her latest music video "Bad Romance," the lead single off GaGa’s upcoming album The Fame Monster. "Bad Romance" premiered during Paris fashion week.

"Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah-ah! Roma-roma-mamaa! Ga-ga-ooh-la-la!" The music is a perfect driving soundtrack that is not only listenable and danceable ; but a great soundtrack for the fashion runway. Watch the video;   you will notice that the distinctive and fashionable sunglasses enhances Lady GaGa's fearless and confident performance. This reminds you that the Lady Gaga experience is visual as well as musical.  Should we say "accessories make the girl."  No, of course not.  But it helps. : )

Customized with retro detailing, the new models from Carrera have achieved cult status and make a bold fashion statement that is popular with teenagers, trendsetters and for many celebrities. One can easily look elegant and  mysterious with a simple pair of glasses. Sunglasses make it easy to hide your emotions and add a bit of mystery to your personna.

Check out the Carerra Vintage line  at Carrera World … I’m sure you’ll find your “true colors.”

Brooches. A fabulous accessory to your outfits!

Brooches. They've been around since the early beginnings of time. Often considered the “oldest type of jewelry,” you may have thought brooches were an extinct accessory that was only worn by ancient royalty –
or your grandma .... and you may have been right – until now. This season brooches are making a huge comeback.

Brooches offer a vintage feel. Sharon Stone wore one years ago at one of the red carpet galas (on her hip) and fashionistas all over the world thought it was ingenious. Other celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, Anne Hathaway, and Claudia Schiffer
have all been spotted with statement brooches pinned to their outfits.
Brooches can give an extra dose of character to an already fabulous
outfit. You can find a brooch at department stores, second hand shops,
or even inside your mother or grandmother’s treasure chest of jewels. It
can be worn on a plain dress or something as grand as your wedding
dress. Once you discover your dream brooch, pin the brooch on the hip of your solid toned dress to add a little glitter, or accentuate the slit in your skirt by pinning the brooch where the fabric first separates. If you have a dress or tee shirt that is too big you can bunch the extra fabric together and pin it in place with a brooch and you’ll soon have a fitted garment with eye-catching detail.

Your hair is also an excellent place to place a brooch. Simply pin it to two bobby pins, a barrette, or a headband and voila! A gorgeously shimmering updo!

And, finally, I was recently at a wedding where the mother-of the bride had a fitted black satin dress with a brooch pinned on one shoulder; the brooch of black and crystal jewels in the shape of a large flower really added to the elegance of the dress.

If you ever tire of wearing brooches on your clothes, you can pin them on clutch purses, bags, hats, and even fasten scarves with them. You can even pin one to your garter!   So don't worry about brooching the subject  (sorry, had to use the pun.)

Be a Mad Hatter for New Years Eve!

Be a mad hatter for the New Year's Eve Celebration you are going to!   Circular shaped hat with pleated black fabric, feminine profile cameo in center, surrounded by genuine Swarovski crystals in olive green and black lace!

Silver clip attached to back for placement in hair or clothing (mine goes on my favorite black coat!)...

Perhaps you prefer a mini top hat?

We have them.  All styles and types.  One of our newest offerings the Twilight 2-for-1 Mini Top Hat-Measuring 6 3/4 inches, black felt top hat, adorned with wicked striped ribbon, dotted pink millinery netting, one side with a dark black rose, the other detailed with detachable pink satin ribbon bow with silver teapot center!

By the way ... I said be a Mad Hatter.  Not "Mad as a Hatter."  Big difference : )   Know where the term comes from?  Although the name 'Mad Hatter' was undoubtedly inspired by the phrase "as mad as a hatter," there is some uncertainty as to the origins of this phrase. As mercury was used in the process of curing felt used in some hats, it was impossible for hatters to avoid inhaling the mercury fumes given off during the hat making process. Hatters and mill workers often suffered mercury poisoning as residual mercury vapor caused neurological damage including confused speech and distorted vision; hatmaking was the main trade in Stockport, near where Carroll grew up. It was not unusual then for hatters to appear disturbed or mentally confused; many died early as a result of mercury poisoning.  (Source: Wiki)
