The first Bubblecuts were also wearing this.

In 1962 Barbie's outfit was changed to the Red Helenca Swimsuit.

The outfit always included Black Open Toe Heels and White Sunglasses with Blue Lens.

Tommy Edwards Photo Exhibit in Cleveland! Be There or Be Square

If you love early rock 'n' roll - and early rock 'n' roll radio - you will be mesmerized by the new book "1950s Radio in Color: The Lost Photographs of Deejay Tommy Edwards"(Kent State University Press).

Author Chris Kennedy discovered the lost, never before published color photo collection of 1950s Cleveland radio deejay Tommy Edwards back in 2006. The collection consists of over 1,700 Ektachrome slides of most everyone who passed through Edwards radio station from 1955-60; including: Elvis, Chuck Berry, Doris Day, country music superstars, Hollywood celebrities and the inevitable unknowns.

Tommy Edwards was a man of many talents. He was a deejay at WERE in Cleveland from 1953 to 1960; wrote the weekly "T.E. Newsletter" that chatted about what was going on in the music business; and was a photographer of artists he interviewed, met or saw onstage. For example, in October 1955, Edwards took the only known picture of Elvis meeting Bill Haley. Haley was a full-blown star then, Elvis an ascending one. Edwards took the music as it came. When Elvis Presley heated up down South, especially among country fans, Edwards helped set up his first live shows in the North, proving he wasn't just a regional starburst.

The book has pictures of Johnny Cash following the Emeralds,a young and depressed-looking Roy Orbison without the famous sun glasses; Gene Vincent and Hollywood stars like Henry Fonda andClark Gable.

As the 1950s wound down, Edwards who had become disenchanted with radio was fired by WERE. Edwards ran record stores until he died in 1981.

Author Chris Kennedy has picked some great photos and newsletter snippets to illustrate a fascinating seven-year time capsule which in essence was the dawn of rock radio.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland are curating a Tommy Edwards photo exhibit, January 12, 2012 through May 6, 2012.In 2006.

Pan Am follows a group of young flight attendants who sign on to the “new” luxury airline in the hopes of seeing and experiencing the world. The series takes place in the early Sixties when traveling aboard PanAm's luxury Jet Clippers glorified the height of the Golden Age of Air Travel. The pilots are handsome and the stewardesses desirable; trained to handle in-air emergencies, unwanted advances; and how to make a cocktail at 30,000 feet; all without wrinkling their uniforms or messing up their hair. Unlike 'Mad Men,' 'Pan Am' promises to focus more on the women. Christina Ricci plays the rebellious bohemian Maggie; Karine Vanasse is the flirtatious Collette, Kellie Garner is the always-adventurous Kate and Margot Robbie is Kate's beauty queen sister, who has f literally left her groom at the alter.. And while each of the stars has perfected that classic "Pan Am Walk" with the hips swaying and one hand in the air, underneath the pretty facade it's all about female empowerment.

Think about it; in the sixties, little girls couldn't and didn't really aspire to be pilots, if they were lucky... and pretty enough... they could become stewardesses, travel the world, and hope to meet rich men and land a rich husband. What more could a woman ask for in a career? The social climate of the 1950's and '60's was strongly sexualized and promoted the glamorous image. They were selected not only for their knowledge but also for their characteristics. A 1936 New York Times article described the requirements: "The girls who qualify for hostesses must be petite; weight 100 to 118 pounds; height 5 feet to 5 feet 4 inches; age 20 to 26 years. Add to that the rigid physical examination each must undergo four times every year, and you are assured of the bloom that goes with perfect health." Stewardesses, as a rule were young, beautiful, and voluptuous which brings us to the "girdle.". The association between the glamorous image of the stewardess and the girdle her employers required her to wear was strong. Nearly all published descriptions of a stewardess's job managed to find a way to include mention of the mandatory girdle policy. Certainly by the mid-60's, popular books such as Coffee, Tea, Or Me, and The Fly Girls made repeated reference to the heroine's girdles, usually in the sense of a good-natured complaint, but sometimes mentioning the protective value of heavyweight undies when dealing with drunken male passengers with "Russian hands and Roman fingers."Christina Ricci plays one of the stewardesses in the new series and says "... the uniforms are sexy, but that sexiness is not easily found. We wear girdles, it’s literally a half-hour pee break. Someone has to help you, because afterward it’s all unhooked. The girdles make you walk a certain way,” she continued. “It keeps your legs together. I don't know how women in the 1960s did it. "I don't know how women got dressed by themselves." Girdle requirements were not uncommon in the '60's (and not just at the airlines.) Most women wore girdles, and girdles were looked upon as a sign of neatness and good grooming, Suffice it it to say, stewardises were required to be so well groomed as to have no lumps or bumps and nothing on display, either. The girdle simply put was part of the uniform. This meant that most young women around the pool would have red dent marks on their thighs from the girdles. It's only fair to note, that, when "stewardesses" became militant, there was quite a brou-ha-ha in which PanAm stewardises claimed --and won --a case in which they claimed to suffer from a syndrome called "jet tummy" or such. They won by getting medical agreement that, indeed, there is some air trapped within internal organs, and that at the reduced cabin air pressure of jet planes, it could become painfully trapped by a girdle.

Sony Pictures TV production president Zack Van Amburg said the idea for "Pan Am" came from a meeting he and Jamie Erlicht, had with Nancy Ganis (a former flight attendant) and her husband/production partner Sid Ganis. When Nancy Ganis relayed tales of what it meant to be a flight attendant in the go-go days of flight travel, Van Amburg and Erlicht latched on to the idea. "These were the world's ambassadors," Van Amburg said. "They were really interesting women at a time when a lot of things were happening, particularly for women in this country... and in terms for what Pan Am did for exporting American culture and importing the world, think about all the visuals of the Beatles landing at JFK on Pan Am." One interesting note about the show is that you won't see the actors smoking. Producers admitted that ABC-Disney nixed the use of tobacco by key stars like Christina Ricci and Margot Robbie, despite the fact that smoking was de rigueur on flights – and throughout the terminal — in those days.

The show has also relaunched, Pan Am Brands luggage and bags. Pan Am has been recognized the world over as the most stylish airline in the world. This was no accident, as the Pan Am powers that be decided to incorporate partnerships between top designers and tastemakers to create what was to become some of the most stylish and iconic images in aviation history. Stewardess uniforms by top designers like Edith Head made heads turn in the terminals and in the aisles. It was the iconic Pan Am cabin bags that were given to first class passengers that became the lasting reminder of escape from the mundane. Carrying a Pan Am bag signified not only a departure from the ordinary, but that you had truly arrived. The current Pan Am brand operates every day with style and innovation in mind. The following is excerpted from an actual 1950's high school Home Economics textbook:

ADVANCE: How to be a Good Wife

HAVE DINNER READY: Plan ahead, even the night before, to have a delicious meal--on time. This is a way to let him know that you have been thinking about him and are concerned with his needs. Most men are hungry when they come home, and having a good meal ready is part of the warm welcome that is needed.

PREPARE YOURSELF: Take fifteen minutes to rest so that you will be refreshed when he arrives. He has just been with a lot of work-weary people. Be a little gay and a little more interesting. His boring day may need a lift. Greet him with a smile.

CLEAR AWAY THE CLUTTER: Make one last trip though the main part of the house just before your husband arrives, gathering up children's books and toys, papers, etc. Then run a dust cloth over the tables. Your husband will feel he has reached a haven of rest and order, and it will give you lift too.

PREPARE THE CHILDREN: If they are small, wash their hands and faces and comb their hair. They are his little treasures and he would like to see them playing the part.

MINIMIZE ALL NOISE: At the time of his arrival, eliminate all noise from the washer, dryer, or vacuum. Encourage the children to be quiet.

SOME "DO NOT'S": Don't greet him with problems and complaints. Don't complain if he is late for dinner. Count this as a minor problem compared to what he might have gone through that day.

MAKE HIM COMFORTABLE: Have a cool or warm drink ready for him. Have him lean back in a comfortable chair or suggest that he lie down in the bedroom. Arrange his pillow and offer to take off his shoes. Speak in a low, soothing voice. Allow him to relax and unwind.

LISTEN TO HIM: You may have a dozen things to tell him, but the moment of his arrival is not the time. Let him talk first.

MAKE THE EVENING HIS: Never complain if he doesn't take you to dinner or to other entertainment. Instead, try to understand his world of strain and pressure and his need to unwind and relax.

THE GOAL: TO MAKE YOUR HOME A PLACE OF PEACE AND ORDER WHERE YOUR HUSBAND CAN RELAX IN BODY AND SPIRIT.

The surviving members of Pink Floyd — Roger Waters, David Gilmour, and Nick Mason — have sworn they will never reunite to tour again after breaking up in the mid-'80s, but at Roger Waters' show last night at London's O2 Arena (part of his current The Wall Live Tour), the three reunited for a rare on-stage collaboration, their third in as many decades. Watch fan-shot footage of them performing "Comfortably Numb" and "Outside the Wall" below.

The reunion was months in the making. Last summer, Waters and Gilmour, who had a falling out during the making of 1983's The Final Cut, buried the hatchet to perform at a benefit concert for the Hoping Foundation. (It was the first time they played together since 2005's Live 8 show in London, which was their first show in 24 years.) Gilmour promised to join Waters for one of his Wall shows if he participated in the charity show.

"How could I refuse such an offer?" Waters wrote on his Facebook page. Ten months later, Gilmour made good on his end of the bargain, which was made even sweeter with the addition of drummer Mason for a rendition of "Outside the Wall." (Pink Floyd keyboardist Rick Wright died in 2008.)

Despite Gilmour and Waters reunion, Gilmour says it was definitely a one-off. A post on his official site reads, "David is not repeating his special guest performance for a later occasion."

The Beachcomber's Creed according to Don Beach

And so it was, in 1934 when a young Ernest Raymond Beaumont-Gantt opened the first Polynesian themed restaurant. The Tiki culture was born. Gantt who later legally changed his name to Don Beach; opened "Don the Beachcomber;" a restaurant that specialized in Cantonese cuisine and exotic rum punches, with a tropical decor. Beach was the first restaurateur to mix flavored syrups and fresh fruit juices with rum. The drinks called Rhum Rhapsodies made Don the Beachcomber's a hot spot for Hollywood's elite. Some of the most memorable exotic cocktails ever made, such as the Scorpion and the Zombie were created by Beach. Don the Beachcomber's is credited as being the first Tiki restaurant from which all other eateries and bars "borrowed." Trader Vic, for example was opened by Victor Bergeron in Oakland, California and grew to become a worldwide chain. The "Mai tai" (considered to be the quintessential Tiki cocktail) was the center of a protracted feud between Don the Beachcomber's and Trader Vic when both claimed to have invented the Mai Tai (the jury is still out.)

Two primary strains of exotica emerged: Jungle and Tiki. Jungle exotica was a Hollywood creation, with its roots in Tarzan movies and further back, to William Henry Hudson's novel Green Mansions. Les Baxter was the king of jungle exotica, and spawned a host of imitators while opening the doors for a few more genuine artists such as Chaino (played bongos, steel drum, etc.), Thurston Knudson, and Guy Warren. Tiki exotica was introduced with Martin Denny's Waikiki nightclub combo; jungle noises cover of Baxter's Quiet Village Quiet Village. Music by artists like Arthur Lyman, and Martin Denny, who blended the Tiki idea through jazz augmented with Polynesian, Asian, and Latin instruments and "tropical" themes created the Exotica genre. This music blended the elements of Afro-Cuban rhythms, unique instrumentations, green sounds, and romantic themes from Hollywood movies. Fast forward to today. Tiki hut style bars are making a comeback for the modern outdoor living and entertaining backyard. Modern day Tiki culture has brought the Hawaiian shirt and cool sunglasses into a higher class with well known designers Tommy Bahamas and Panama Jack.

Tiki-themed events and conventions have begun to spring up across America—with the majority happening in Southern California. Large annual events include Tiki Oasis in San Diego; Hukilauin Fort Lauderdale and Ohana Luau at the Lake in Lake George, NY.

So how do you dress Tiki? Actually you don't. Although "Tiki" conjures up images of beatnik fashion styles, Smokey jazz lounges, and tropical attire; dressing Tiki is really "a state of mind." Someone who is in to the Tiki Culture will dress tropical or "Tiki" whether there is 6 feet of snow out their front door as easily as if it is 110 degrees outside. It's a feeling of tropical restfulness, sun, beach, tans and happy music. Keep in mind that there's good Tiki and bad Tiki. Anything sleek and new; for instance, a plastic totem or plastic coconut bikini top -- is bad Tiki. Anything you can find in the luau section of your local party store --i.e., cheap plastic leis and cardboard cutout hula girls -- is bad Tiki.

But in regards to attire; Good Tiki culture speaks of a 1940's - 1960's era of nostalgia and attire that is more than just a tropical aloha shirt and flip-flops (although these are passable.) You can mix in Asian, Hawaiian, Tongan, and other influences. The general focus for men should be on hip and chic lounge wear over beach tropical: tapered pants, and skinny ties; slicked back hair, sunglasses; a leopard print or red smoking jacket; and of course a Fez will do Vintage cocktail and cheongsam dresses are great fashion statements as are muumuus, pedal pushers, kitten heels, sarongs and bikini tops. A fabulous Hawaiian shirt is great for both women and men. Women should wear a flower behind the ear. Those who are romantically available should place the flower behind their right ear, but if her affections are currently occupied, she should put the flower closest to the heart, behind the left ear. In regard to the lei, wear it draped on your front and back. Seashell jewelry is another nice touch.

The Hukilau is a celebration where fans of Tiki, Retro and Pop culture from all over the world can gather for a fun filled weekend. Jackie Cooper, Former Child Star, 'Superman' Actor, Dies at 88

Jackie Cooper's death largely went un-noticed ... One of the great actors of the 30s, 40s and 50s. He could make you laugh and make you cry. Jackie Cooper, who went from Oscar-nominated child star to TV executive and director while amassing scores of acting credits — including playing Perry White in the four Christopher Reeve Superman films — has died. He was 88.

Cooper died Tuesday at a convalescent home in Santa Monica. “He just kinda died of old age,” his attorney Roger Licht told Reuters. “He wore out.”

Cooper enjoyed a 60-year acting career. Before Shirley Temple won the world’s hearts, he was the most popular and widely recognized child star of the early 1930s and the first kid to shine in “talkies.” His pug nose, crinkly smile and pouty lip endeared him to a nationwide audience, first as Jackie in Hal Roach’s Our Gang comedies. Cooper was so popular, he was known as “America’s Boy.”

The Last Doughboy Has Died ... Frank Buckles

Check the story out in the Washington Post. It's touching and interesting. A wonderful biography of a man who was the last surviving World War I veteran. He died on Sunday in his own bed on his farm. His name was Frank Buckles. He was 110. He faked his age to join the army at 16, and drove an ambulance behind the Western Front.

In 1917 and 1918, close to 5 million Americans served in World War I, and Mr. Buckles, was the last known survivor. "I knew there'd be only one someday," he said a few years back. "I didn't think it would be me."

Mr. Buckles, who was born by lantern light in a Missouri farmhouse, quit school at 16 and bluffed his way into the Army. As the nation flexed its full military might overseas for the first time, he joined 4.7 million Americans in uniform and was among 2 million U.S. troops shipped to France to vanquish the German kaiser.

Ninety years later, with available records showing that former corporal Buckles, serial No. 15577, had outlived all of his compatriots from World War I, the Department of Veterans Affairs declared him the last doughboy standing.

"I feel like an endangered species," he joked, well into his 11th decade.

The Godfather of Fitness Jack La Lanne has died at age 96

I thought he would live forever. Jack La Lanne has died ata his California Home due to complications of pneumonia at the age of 96; 1/23/2011. I remember sitting under my mother's ironing board while she ironed and worked out when I was a kid.

From the NNDB Site (taken in it's entirety):

Jack La Lanne was a juvenile delinquent, once attacking his brother with an axe, and setting his family's house on fire. In adulthood, he blamed his youthful misbehavior on being fed too many high-sugar foods. At 15, his mother dragged him to hear a speech by nutritionist Paul Bragg. Inspired, La Lanne reformed his eating habits, eliminating everything made with white flour or white sugar, and instead ate almost nothing but fruits, vegetables, and fish for the rest of his life. Healthy foods were hard to find, so La Lanne concocted his own recipes, and by the age of 18 he owned a health-food bakery.

At 21, he opened his first gym in Oakland, California. It was 1936, and most doctors at the time warned against working out with weights, believing it could cause a heart attack or ruin a man's sex drive. Considered a crackpot at the time, La Lanne eventually became America's foremost authority on fitness. His gym grew into a chain of fitness clubs, with no reports of members dying or losing interest in sex. To add variety to his customers' workouts, he devised such now-standard equipment as leg-extension machines and weights on pulleys for lifting. Over subsequent years, La Lanne was among the first to produce protein supplements and nutrition bars.

Beginning in 1951, La Lanne hosted and produced The Jack La Lanne Show, TV's first workout program. On his show, he performed calisthenics, usually with only a chair or table ledge as 'equipment', while cheerfully pointing at the camera and urging his audience to "Get up, work out, and feel better". At first, the show aired only in San Francisco, and La Lanne had to buy the air time, as TV executives were sure nobody would want to watch him do exercises. Within a few years, the program was nationally syndicated on ABC, where millions watched La Lanne do exercises until 1985. (Including my mother and the neighbors.) PS -- Remember the dog????

After his TV show ended, La Lanne remained in the public eye with a series of fitness stunts, usually performed on his birthday. In 1955, he swam from Alcatraz to San Francisco, while wearing handcuffs. In 1991, for his 70th birthday, he swam a mile while shackled to 70 boats carrying 70 people. Now in his 90s, La Lanne is still in excellent health, and works out two hours every day -- an hour in the gym, and an hour in the pool. He says he has not missed a day of workouts -- or had a sugary dessert -- since 1930. He still appears on television, selling his Jack La Lanne Power Juicers. "I don't care how old I live", he says, "I just want to be living while I am living!" In a 2004 interview, at the age of 90, he said he has "an active sex life".

1954 (age 40): swam the entire length of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, underwater, with 140 pounds (64 kg; 10 st) of equipment, including two air tanks. A world record.

1955 (age 41): swam from Alcatraz Island to Fisherman's Wharf in San Francisco while handcuffed. When interviewed afterwards he was quoted as saying that the worst thing about the ordeal was being handcuffed, which reduced his chance to Star Jump significantly.

1956 (age 42): set a world record of 1,033 push-ups in 23 minutes on You Asked For It,[28] a television program with Art Baker.

1957 (age 43): swam the Golden Gate channel while towing a 2,500-pound (1,100 kg; 180 st) cabin cruiser. The swift ocean currents turned this one-mile (1.6 km) swim into a swimming distance of 6.5 miles (10.5 km).

1958 (age 44): maneuvered a paddleboard nonstop from Farallon Islands to the San Francisco shore. The 30-mile (48 km) trip took 9.5 hours.

1959 (age 45): did 1,000 star jumps and 1,000 chin-ups in 1 hour, 22 minutes and The Jack LaLanne Show went nationwide.

1974 (age 60): For the second time, he swam from Alcatraz Island to Fisherman's Wharf. Again, he was handcuffed, but this time he was also shackled and towed a 1,000-pound (450 kg; 71 st) boat.

1975 (age 61): Repeating his performance of 21 years earlier, he again swam the entire length of the Golden Gate Bridge, underwater and handcuffed, but this time he was shackled and towed a 1,000-pound (450 kg; 71 st) boat.

1976 (age 62): To commemorate the "Spirit of '76", United States Bicentennial, he swam one mile (1.6 km) in Long Beach Harbor. He was handcuffed and shackled, and he towed 13 boats (representing the 13 original colonies) containing 76 people.[29]

1979 (age 65): towed 65 boats in Lake Ashinoko, near Tokyo, Japan. He was handcuffed and shackled, and the boats were filled with 6,500 pounds (2,900 kg; 460 st) of Louisiana Pacific wood pulp.[19]

1980 (age 66): towed 10 boats in North Miami, Florida. The boats carried 77 people, and he towed them for over one mile (1.6 km) in less than one hour.

1984 (age 70): Handcuffed, shackled and fighting strong winds and currents, towed 70 rowboats, one with several guests, from the Queen’s Way Bridge in the Long Beach Harbor to the Queen Mary, 1 mile.[30]

Guerrero says; "This project began as an idea for my thesis. We always wanted to do sustainable design but we didn't want to do something that was already seen, so we started thinking of a waste that was unnoticed and then we thought of cigarette butts." And, after seeing the positive results and large interest generated, Alexandra decided to turn the project into a business.

You only need say “I’m flying Pan Am” to conjure up romantic images of the days when flying was romantic, adventurous and mysterious.

According to Variety the legendary airline "Pan Am" will be taking flight via your home T.V., with a television pilot commitment at ABC who has picked up the rights to a drama, based on the airline. Sony Pictures TV production president Zack Van Amburg said the idea came from a meeting with Nancy Ganis (and her husband) who spoke of tales of historically relevant intrigue, sex and what it meant to be a flight attendant in the early days of flight travel.

The series: "Pan Am" will take place in the mid-60s -- the same era that Emmy-winning drama "Mad Men" takes place. Van Amburg admitted that the critical acclaim behind "Mad Men" likely made it easier to pitch a period piece like Pan Am. The show will focus on flight attendants and pilots who once made Pan Am the most glamorous way to fly. "These were the world's ambassadors," Van Amburg said. "They were really interesting women at a time when a lot of things were happening, particularly for women in this country... and in terms for what Pan Am did for exporting American culture and importing the world, think about all the visuals of the Beatles landing at JFK on Pan Am, Marilyn Monroe flying Pan Am with Joe DiMaggio on their Honeymoon, and even James Bond flew Pan Am in "From Russia With Love."

Pan Am"" will focus on the flight attendants and their underlying secrets. One of the characters, for example, is recruited by the State Dept. into espionage -- something that actually happened in real life. Another character may hail from France. Van Amburg said there's also a bit of wish fulfillment and an aspirational quality to "Pan Am," given how today's air travel is seen as pretty miserable by most travelers. "Pan Am" will be based in New York, where the airline had a major hub while also regularly using Miami and foreign cities as settings.

Amburg also added that the era was notable for the quantum changes to working conditions for women, and that this will be reflected in the show, and added, "the most viable drama I've heard of or seen in a long time".

For those who love movies, note that the famous "Flying Down to Rio" is most famous for the first pairing of Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire. However, it is also famous for the "aerial ballet" in which an entire musical number with scantily clad chorus girls is staged on the wings of airplanes flying high over Rio De Janeiro.

Briefly, the film is an extended commercial for Pan-Am (Pan American Airways, now defunct). The critical link is Merian C. Cooper, the producer of Flying Down to Rio and a founding member of the Board of Directors of Pan_AM, who served for decades.

You can also check out the gorgeous Leonardo DiCaprio in Catch Me if You Can and even more recently, the Pan Am name and logo were used by designer Marc Jacobs for a line of handbags and accessories.

Get Bettie Page Hair Easy .. Try the Hairfree brush!

When one thinks of the "classic pinup" few names come to mind faster than Bettie Page. A raven haired beauty and icon of the 50s, she was best known for her trademark hairstyle, bangs, blue eyes and uninhibited relationship with the camera. Bettie's hairstyle is one that women are emulating. Want the look? Here is how:

Be prepared to color your hair for the full "Bettie homage" look; unless your hair is already dark brown or black. Of course you can still the "the style" without dying your hair but it wouldn't be the Bettie Page look without going dark.
Have your bangs cut short. The bangs should be equal length across the entire forehead. The bangs need only be long enough to work with rollers or a curling iron.
Keep the hair (except the bangs) long, coming past the shoulders at least.
Tame the hair into big, soft curls. If your hair is naturally curly, try a relaxing product. Blow dry the hair with a diffuser and a round brush to achieve the big curls. If you have naturally straight hair, set it with big rollers for a few hours. Set the curls with a lightweight hairspray, as the look should appear soft and natural.
Use a large curling iron to tame the bangs. They should come straight down but be curled under just enough to add a little bounce and volume. Set with some hairspray.
And for the "pinup look" spice it up with a large flower on the side of your head for special occasions.

If you frequently have to use high heat flat iron / curling irons on your hair, they will eventually damage your hair! Flat irons often heat up to over 400 degrees. Anything you can do to avoid that much heat on your hair is a good thing. I came across a very nice alternative called hairfreé™ self-cleaning hairbrushes. Cat Miracle Diet

Most diets fail because we stubbornly continue to think and eat like humans. For those us who have never had any success dieting there is the new Miracle Cat Diet! DAY ONE
Breakfast: Open can of expensive gourmet cat food. Any flavour as long as it cost more than seventy-five cents per can. Eat one bite of food then look around room disdainfully. Knock the rest on the floor. Stare at the wall for awhile before stalking off into the other room.

Lunch: Four blades of grass and one lizard tail. Throw it back up on the most expensive carpet in your house.

Dinner: Catch a moth and play with it until it is almost dead. Eat one wing. Leave the rest to die.

Bedtime snack: Steal one green bean from your spouse's or partner's plate. Bat it around the floor until it goes under the refrigerator. Steal one small piece of chicken and eat half of it. Leave the other half on the sofa. Throw out the remaining gourmet cat food from the can you opened this morning.

DAY TWO
Breakfast: Pick up the leftover chicken from the sofa. Knock it onto the carpet and bat it under the television set. Chew on the corner of the newspaper as your spouse/partner tries to read it.

Lunch: Break into the fresh French bread that you bought as your part of the dinner party on Saturday. Lick the top of it all over. Take one bite out of the middle of the loaf.

Afternoon snack: Catch a large beetle and bring it into the house. Play toss and catch with it until it is mushy and half dead. Allow it to escape under the bed.

Dinner: Open a fresh can of dark-coloured gourmet cat food -- tuna or beef works well. Eat it voraciously. Walk from your kitchen to the edge of the living room rug. Promptly throw up on the rug. Step into it as you leave. Track footprints across the entire room.

DAY THREE:
Breakfast: Drink part of the milk from your spouse's or partner's cereal bowl when no one is looking. Splatter part of it on the nearest polished aluminum appliance you can find.

Lunch: Catch a small bird and bring it into the house. Play with on top of your down filled comforter. Make sure the bird is seriously injured but not dead before you abandon it for someone else to have to deal with.

Dinner: Beg and cry until you are given some ice cream or milk in a bowl of your own. Take three licks/laps and then turn the bowl over on the floor.

FINAL DAY:
Breakfast: Eat six bugs, assorted varieties, being sure to leave a collection of legs, wings, and antennae on the bathroom floor. Drink lots of water. Throw the bugs and all of the water up on your spouse's or partner's pillow.

Lunch: Remove the chicken skin from last night's chicken-to-go leftovers your spouse or partner placed in the trash can. Drag the skin across the floor several times. Chew it in a corner and then abandon.

Dinner: Open another can of expensive gourmet cat food. Select a flavour that is especially runny, like Chicken and Giblets in Gravy. Lick off all the gravy and leave the actual meat to dry and get hard.

Halloween aprons are a neat solution to a costume puzzle problem; "What kind of costume should I get?"

Aprons allow you to 'dress up' for Halloween without having to buy a costume. An apron is perfect. Sometimes you don't want to pay for an expensive costume to wear only a few times. Once again, an apron will do the trick. If you struggled to find a costume that appeals to you, think about the magnificent Apron; not too expensive; they come in all sorts of styles and they are practical. (Yes, they will protect your clothes when you are serving dinner, too.)

Bloody Zombie Gingerbread Men Recipe

Hey, gingerbread cookies aren't just for Christmas anymore; they're a favorite treat any time of year. And if you're looking for gross recipes for Halloween, this one can be as gross as your kids care to make it.

3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1-1/2 teaspoons ground ginger

1-1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup shortening

1 egg

1 cup molasses

1 teaspoon baking soda

1-1/2 teaspoons warm water

1/4 cup raisins for decorating

Different colored gel icing

Cream together shortening, sugar, egg, and warm molasses. Dissolve baking soda in warm water, and then add to the egg mixture. Next, add flour, spices, and salt; mix it all up until well blended. Cover and chill overnight.

Prepare a floured surface and get out the rolling pin and cookie cutters. Cut gingerbread men (or other Halloween shapes) and place an inch or two apart on a greased cookie sheet for baking.

Use raisins and cinnamon candies for eyes, buttons, and so on. Then add gel icing to pipe on bloody legs, arms, and blood-dripping eyeballs.

Nothing says the fifties any more than the classic ponytail; which has never gone out of style. It works for toddlers who can't comb their own hair; all the way up to the age of senior citizen (who still sometimes, can't comb their own hair.) Perfect if you want to keep the hair out of your eyes; perfect if you are a no muss kind of gal and perfect if it's hot and you want your hair off your neck. Also, perfect for jeans and a top, or even an elegant evening. It's a versatile style that can be dressed up with makeup and hair accessories and still look great with a plain rubber band. Although you should probably save your hair by using Elastic Snag Free hair bands.

If you've watched any awards show this season or picked up a fashion magazine, you've seen that everyone seens to be sporting: ponytails! Think about it; Lucille Ball wore a pony tail quite frequently, Tony Little (exercise guru) sports one, and heck, even Barbie has sported one since the fifties!

Recently The Early Show's stylist to the stars, David Evangelista, showed viewers a few ways to pull off the look, while avoiding the "I-just-woke-up-and-am-late-for-work/school" look.

According to Evangelista, one of the nice things about the ponytail is that there is no "perfect ponytail." In fact, there are several different ways to sport the pulled-back pony, from sleek and shiny to messy and sexy. And, the ponytail does not require the time and effort you need to fight your hair's natural texture, taming it into a style that it just wants to fight. The ponytail immediately directs attention to your face, and can flatter anyone. Indeed, there's a pony for every hair type, face shape and mood, and Evangelista talks about three of the prettiest ponies. They are:

THE HIGH PONY

Polished and sophisticated, the high ponytail is fast becoming a favorite of celebrities. Set high on the head, the high pony accentuates the cheekbones and can give you an instant facelift. How to get it? See Gwen Stefani to hte right in a high pony tail (picture found at Hair Boutique Site)Brush and pull your hair into a high ponytail with a Mason Pearson or Boar Bristle Paddle Brush. Positioning the pony at a 45 degree angle from the chin, many stylists say, accentuates the cheekbones to their fullest. Secure the pony in place with a snag-free elastic. Then take 1/2 inch of hair from the ponytail and wrap around the elastic band. Secure it in place with a hairpin, and lightly smooth the hair with your brush and a dab of silicone for shine.

THE WAVY PONY

Sultry, sexy curls and waves are what make this pony so stunning. Celebrities such as Beyonce Knowles , who wore the wavy pony to the "Pink Panther" premiere get a truly romantic look with stunning spirals around their faces and down their backs. To get this look, set your hair in Hot Rollers and let sit for about half-an-hour. When you take the hair out of the hot rollers, separate the curls with your fingers; for a more defined curl, wrap your hair around a wide-barrel curling iron and set for a few minutes. Gather hair at the back of the head right at the occipital bone, and secure with a non-snagging elastic. (Check out Debra Messing's Pony tail -- gorgeous. THE PERKY PONY

For ladies with bangs, or bangs that are growing out, who don't want to look like fourth-graders when they wear their hair in a ponytail, this is the look to go for. The bangs are side-swept, so they don't hang down in the face, and there's an inward bend in the ponytail that gives an overall polished look, almost like want to look like fourth-graders when they wear their hair in a ponytail, this is the look to go for. When your hair is wet, part it on one side, and blow dry bangs with a large round brush toward the opposite side of the face, using a gel or mousse to help keep bangs pushed to the side. Once hair is dry, set with large velcro rollers, rolling the hair around the roller from the ends to the roots. Sit for 20 minutes, and take hair out of rollers. Brush the bangs with a boar bristle brush to the side of the face, and secure with a bobby pin or spray with mega-hold hairspray. Gather hair at the back of the head into a ponytail - it should be a medium-height ponytail, between the crown of the head and the occipital bone, and secure with a non-snag elastic or bungee. For added bend in the pony, wrap the ends of the ponytailed hair around a large-barrel curling iron.

Other options ...

Hair to short or fine? Get a ponytail hair extension. Just clip it in : ).
